To help you along, I\u2019m\ngoing to show you how to find the right voice, how to record it, and I\u2019ll even\ngive you some tips on how to record your own voiceover if you fancy yourself\nthe next Morgan Freeman. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hi, I\u2019m Jess. Before we get started, make\nsure to click the subscribe button so that you get notified every time we\nupload a new video to help you with your video marketing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, let\u2019s kick things off with the first\nand most important step in recording a voice over:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>* Choosing the right voice *<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When producing a voiceover you have the\noption to either do it yourself, or outsource it to a professional voiceover\nartist. Recording your voiceover yourself is great if you are building a\npersonal brand or if your voiceover script conveys your personal opinions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, a professional voiceover\nartist may cost a little more than doing it yourself, but it can be less time\nconsuming and it also gives you access to a diverse range of voices to find the\nperfect one that matches the demographic of your audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do decide on hiring a professional,\nchoosing the right voiceover artist to represent your brand is essential. They\nneed to both speak to your audience\u2019s demographic, and accurately illustrate\nwho you are as a business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That may seem like a very weighty decision\nto make, but don\u2019t worry! There are really only two major questions you need to\nanswer for yourself before starting your search: who and how. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, think about your target audience:\nwho are you speaking to? With your viewers in mind, decide what gender, age,\nand accent your voiceover artist should have. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example: if you\u2019re selling a women\u2019s\nskincare product, chances are you\u2019ll want a female artist, not a burly man with\na deep voice. As stunning as James Earl Jones\u2019s voice is, it wouldn\u2019t really\nmake much sense for him to be talking about women\u2019s facial moisturizers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second, decide what tone your voice over\nneeds to have: do you want it to be authoritative, comedic, or inspiring? If\nyou\u2019re a law firm, chances are you\u2019d want your voice over to be authoritative,\nbut if you\u2019re a family restaurant, you\u2019ll likely have better luck with\nsomething a bit more on the lighthearted side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overall, the key here is to find a\nvoiceover artist who can provide a performance your viewers can empathize with,\nboth through the sound of their voice and tone of their delivery. People tend\nto buy from people they can relate to, so your goal should be to forge a\npersonal connection with your audience through your voiceover. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you\u2019ve nailed down those two points,\nyou can start putting your plans in motion and move onto the next step:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>* Finding a great voiceover\nartist *<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So, you\u2019ve got a vision for your voice\nover, but how do you find an artist to record it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two ways I recommend looking for\nvoiceover artists online: going through a voiceover website or looking for a\nfreelancer on your own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voiceover websites make it easier to find\nsomeone well-suited for your project, but they also charge project management\nfees. A great website where you can find professional voiceover artists is voices.com.\nThe site has a search function, so you can type in exactly what you\u2019re looking\nfor, say, \u201chealth care\u201d, for example, and find artists who have specific\nexperience doing voiceovers on your search topic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If voices.com doesn\u2019t fit the bill for you,\ntake a look at voicecastinghub.com, mandy.com, soho voices to find even more\nartists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When it comes to looking for freelancers, I\nrecommend using platforms like Fiverr or Upwork. These are two of the biggest\nonline freelance marketplaces, and you\u2019re bound to find someone who\u2019s a great\nfit for your project on there. You can even try using Linkedin, but this is\nbecoming a bit harder lately due to newly implemented restrictions on\nmessaging. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When you\u2019ve finally found someone you vibe\nwith, it\u2019s time for the fun part:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>* Recording Your Voiceover *<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most\nfreelance voiceover artists have their own studio setup at home, so you won\u2019t\nhave to worry about the nitty gritty of actually recording a voiceover. You\u2019ll\njust send your artist your script, give some notes, and receive a finished and\npolished product that should only need a couple revisions,\nif any. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do need to\ngive direction to a voiceover artist, try to be as specific as possible. I\nappreciate sometimes it\u2019s quite hard to know what exactly isn\u2019t working, but I\nfind it helps to look at these 4 factors to help me be a bit more specific:\nTone, Pacing, Inflection, Accent, Pronunciation or audio quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If,\nhowever you want to take up the microphone yourself, here are some tips to set\nyou in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To\nstart, find a quiet area without any echoes \u2014 that means no traffic noises, no\nrefrigerator hums, or anything else that could distract your viewers. Ideally,\nyou\u2019d be able to record in a soundproof booth, but if you\u2019re on a really low\nbudget that\u2019s probably not an option. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next,\nmake sure you\u2019ve got a high-quality microphone to record on. We\u2019ve got a video\non this topic already, and you can find the link in the description down below.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\ncan\u2019t stress this next one enough: use a pop filter! Plosive sounds like \u201cp\u201ds\nand \u201cb\u201ds can make very unpleasant sounds if you don\u2019t put a filter between you\nand your mic, so make sure you pick one up before recording. You can find some\nfor just \u00a35, and if you really want to be frugal, you can even put a sock\naround your mic to achieve the same effect. Just bear in mind that you\u2019ll lose\na bit of quality if you do go the sock route. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that\u2019s it! If you follow these steps, you should get a great, professional sounding voiceover for your video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope this video has been helpful.
