More often than not, you\nwill be in competition with a number of similar providers and you will need to\ndifferentiate yourself to win the sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Case study videos\nprovide a great opportunity for you to accomplish\nthis by showcasing what sets you apart from your competitors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about what makes you really stand out and then highlight this\nin your case study videos. If they have given a\nwritten testimonial, or promoted your product by word-of-mouth, even better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your customer should\nhave a good story to tell which is relatable\nto your most typical customer. For example, if you are an accounting firm and\nyour typical clients include small retailers, but you get a case study from a\nmultinational oil company for whom you did some one-off auditing work, on first glance it may appear that this will help boost\nyour credibility. But in reality, this case study may actually serve to alienate your typical prospect who most likely won&#8217;t be able to see themselves in the shoes of this much larger company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lastly, make sure the customers you choose for your case study videos\nactually look good on camera. This part should not only include an overview of your customer\u2019s\nbusiness but also properly introduce the people featured in the video and their\nrespective roles which will make them more relatable to your audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PART 2: LIFE BEFORE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your main goal here\nshould be to describe how life was for your customer before they went ahead\nwith your product or service. The more specific you can be with describing\ntheir challenges, the better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PART 3: LIFE AFTER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next your customer should describe life\nafter they went ahead with your offering. Basically, it&#8217;s time to get into the\nresults. The key thing here is to explain clearly how your solution has\nimproved the life of your customer in a measurable way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And finally\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PART 4: YOUR CUSTOMER\u2019S RECOMMENDATION<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your video can\nconclude with your customer giving their response to the question, \u201cWHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO ANYONE THINKING ABOUT PROCEEDING WITH\nX?\u201d (With X being your offering)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ok, now\nthat you have a good structure to follow, let&#8217;s move on our fifth tip which\nis&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TIP 5:\nINCENTIVISE YOUR CUSTOMERS TO DO THE SHOOT: <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>How you\ndo this is really up to you, but you need\nto make sure that you make it worthwhile for your\ncustomers to feature in your case study videos. &nbsp;There is a\nsubstantial amount of work involved in producing a high quality video, and your\ncustomers will have to take time out of their busy schedules to do the necessary\nwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So don&#8217;t\nbe surprised if even clients that are really happy with your service and have\ngiven you glowing written testimonials opt out from helping you create a case\nstudy video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make\nit worth their while, you can consider offering them a discount on their next\npurchase.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Or\nmaybe you can make it a good marketing opportunity for them. For example, if\nyou will be sending your video to your mailing list, then this can also\npotentially become an opportunity for your featured customer to introduce\nthemselves to new prospects who may not yet be aware of their offering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The key\ntakeaway here is that you should look for ways to create a win-win situation\nwhere your customers will also benefit from the work they will have to put in\nto create a good case study videos for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TIP 6:\nMAKE IT SHORT AND SWEET<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure to keep\nyour case study videos short, relevant and\nto-the-point. If your video drags on too long, your viewerscan\neasily become bored which means they may not make it all the way to the\nend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In our\npersonal experience, case study VIDEOS BETWEEN 5 AND 9 MINUTES GENERALLY TEND\nTO GET THE BEST ENGAGEMENT LEVELS. (3 to 5)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A good\nrule of thumb to follow when deciding on the length of your videos is that the\nmore complex and higher priced your product or service, the more in-depth your\ncase studies will need to be. This is because as the investment the prospect\nhas to make goes up in value, so does the perceived risk associated with the\npurchase. So your prospects are likely to want a more detailed explanation if\nthey will have to make a substantial investment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ok,\nlet&#8217;s move on to our next tip&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TIP 7:\nMAKE IT BELIEVABLE<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your prospects are much more likely to trust your case\nstudy videos if they are realistic and believable, and\ndon&#8217;t seem to be exaggerated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One\ngreat way to make your case studies more believable is by ADDING FACTS AND\nFIGURES. For example, rather than your customer just mentioning that they\nachieved a great return on investment from adopting your product, it is better\nto state the actual figure. So if we said that the customer saying something\nlike <em>&#8220;going ahead with the purchase\nhas reduced our printing costs&#8221;<\/em> isn&#8217;t as effective as saying <em>&#8220;going ahead with the purchase has\ndropped our annual printing costs by 32.5%&#8221;.<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You get\nthe idea!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, make sure you\ndon\u2019t exaggerate. For example, if you sell custom\ndesigned office lamps, your video doesn&#8217;t need to include your customer making comments like &#8216;buying this lamp has been the best decisions we have made as a business <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure,\nyour customer may totally love your custom lamps and they should certainly\nmention this, but at the same time, they don&#8217;t need to go overboard, as claims\nthat sound unrealistic and too farfetched can break trust and make your\naudience more wary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Next up\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TIP 8:\nPREPARE YOUR CONTENT PROPERLY BEFORE SHOOTING<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You should carefully plan the\ncontent of your video so you know what questions you will ask your customer and\nhave a sense of how they will respond.\nHowever, we don&#8217;t recommend scripting this\ntoo heavily so that your customer ends up sounding robotic.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">TIP 9:\nUSE INTERESTING VISUALS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Just like you\nshould prepare the verbal content of your video, you should also give some thought in advance to the visuals in particular\nlocations you will shoot at.
